A. Franklin Berry, Jr. grew up in southern Kentucky and then earned his B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, in 1966. He then attended the University of Kentucky College of Law where he received his J.D. in 1969. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, including a tour of duty in Viet Nam as a Captain, he returned to Florida and the University of Miami Law School where he completed his L.L.M. in Taxation in 1973.
Franklin Berry then gained invaluable experience as a Technical Tax Law Specialist with the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. For the years following, his practice has primarily focused on tax, family business, estate planning, and probate.
Mr. Berry is south-central Kentucky’s only Fellow of both The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and the American College of Tax Counsel. Furthermore, he has been named a Kentucky Super Lawyer in Estate Planning every year since the award’s inception in 2007.
State bar associations of which Mr. Berry is a member are as follows: Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, and the District of Columbia. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, former committee chair of the Agriculture Committee of the ABA Section of Taxation, former chair of both the Tax Section and the Probate and Trust Section of theKentucky Bar Association. He is also a member and former President of the Southern Kentucky Estate Planning Council.
