Areas of Practice

Taxation

The firm handles corporate, partnership, and individual tax matters. Mr. Berry’s work as a tax law specialist with the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. serves him well in his representation of businesses and individuals alike.

Estate Planning

This area of practice relies heavily on the attorney’s skills as a counselor. His initial meeting with a prospective client is a time to learn about the family’s values. He then feeds back ideas reflecting those values.

Once a preliminary understanding is reached regarding the client’s goals and the general plan for accomplishing them, an engagement letter is sent to the client for signature to employ the attorney for the particular assistance and documents stated therein with the fee stated as a fixed fee, a fee range based on the estimated time required, or on the attorney’s hourly rate plus filing fees and other administrative costs.

Drafts of documents will then be prepared and sent to the client with an explanation letter. Once the documents are read and notes made by the client, the attorney and the client discuss the documents.

After any desired revisions are made, the documents will be prepared in final form and then executed, witnessed, and notarized in the attorney’s office, unless other arrangements are made. The original documents and any requested copies are then distributed to the client. A  letter of completion will be sent to the client stating that the goals of engagement have been accomplished and the engagement has been completed.

Corporate and General Commercial Law

This area of practice includes organizing and advising business entities such as corporations, general partnerships, limited partnerships, and limited liability companies. With extensive experience and attention to current tax issues, Mr. Berry is committed to supplying his corporate and commercial clients with all available resources to properly structure their businesses.
